Setting up an IVA correctly requires attention to detail, and many IVA companies fail to offer sufficient support to their clients when setting up an IVA for them.
But we believe that by setting the IVA up correctly from the very beginning, there’s much less chance that the IVA will fail to achieve its goal.
So what should you be looking for when your IVA is being set up for you?
- Thoroughness: Your adviser should cover every aspect of the IVA for you. They should explain to you exactly how an IVA is going to be applied to your circumstances.
- Directness: You should be confident that your adviser knows their subject, and you should receive direct answers to direct questions, with no contradictions.
- Attention to detail: More than a cursory glance should be passed over your IVAs information. Any one thing could hinder your ability to successfully apply for an IVA, and you should be confident that your adviser is capable of spotting possible weaknesses in your IVA case.
- Diligence: Paying particular attention to the financial statement of affairs is crucial. This is the area of most concern when setting up an IVA application correctly, so make sure all your allowances are accounted for and the figures are accurate.
- Patience: An IVA application should not have a predetermined time by which it should be completed. Every case is different and everybody has a different speed at which they absorb information, so make sure you are not rushed, and make sure you understand the answers to all the questions you ask.
