People who are already struggling to prevent their debts spiralling out of control may find being the victim of theft could encourage them to seek individual voluntary arrangement answers to sort out their finances.
New research from Allianz Musical Insurance has shown a quarter of musicians in Britain have either lost their instrument or had it stolen in recent times.
The investigation found these people are paying out an average of £650 to replace the items.
Moreover, of those who have fallen victim to such a crime or have misplaced their objects, 60 per cent admitted it was because of their own forgetfulness.
Robin Stagg, claims manager at the organisation, said: "Musicians are often leading busy lives attending performances and gigs, and as our research shows, there are occasions when instruments are lost or stolen."
The findings come after recent research from uSwitch.com revealed more than one million insurance claims regarding missing mobile phones were made in Britain last year.
