An increasing number of UK adults who are deep in the red and struggling to manage their finances may wish to consider asking individual voluntary arrangement questions at the earliest opportunity.
Managing director of the Debt Advice Foundation David Rodger said people should not put off dealing with their money troubles and claimed families may soon begin to feel the pinch in 2011.
The expert noted the pressure of Christmas spending may have started to take its toll on many in the UK.
He added: "Sadly, debt problems only get worse over time, so it's worth asking for help and advice sooner rather than later."
People should aim to trim their spending, cut down on credit and search for additional ways to save, Mr Rodger stated.
Recent research from Santander Credit Cards found more than 2.8 million credit card holders will move a total of £2.8 billion worth of debt onto new plastic products in 2011.
