People 'need to sit down and consider' their finances

Thursday 20th of January 2011

A number of people struggling with debt may find they have some individual voluntary questions that need answering once they take a closer look at their finances, after one expert suggested UK adults need to consider their money situation more thoroughly.

According to a spokeswoman for Aviva, one of the simplest - yet most effective - ways for families to help them better understand their cash flow problems is to take a step back and see where the money is actually going.

The specialist claimed it can be all too tempting for a person to stick their head in the sand and try to ignore the difficulties they are experiencing.

"By actually sitting down and looking where income is really spent, it can be possible to manage money in a more effective way," she added.

Her comments come after recent Aviva research showed 93 per cent of UK families do not think their financial protection is adequate.
