Discussing debt ‘is healthy’

Discussing debt 'is healthy'

Monday 8th of November 2010

Brits in debt who have suffered in silence for too long may now begin to start asking individual voluntary arrangement questions.

Jasmine Birtles, founder of Moneymagpie.com, said the news more people are now willing to discuss their financial difficulties is healthy.

She noted it can help to talk about monetary problems as it means an individual no longer has to put on an act and means they can get support from those around them.

As a result of a willingness to discuss debt worries, less stigma is now attached to those experiencing monetary problems, which has resulted in an increase in Brits being prepared to ask for debt help, Ms Birtles stated.

Last week, a survey produced by uSwitch.com found a third of UK individuals believe there is no longer any shame attached to being in the red, while almost a quarter of those asked said they would discuss their debts with others.
