Debt problems ‘causing emotional distress’

Debt problems 'causing emotional distress'

Wednesday 15th of December 2010

Brits who feel their debt burden is becoming too much for them to cope with may decide to ask individual voluntary arrangement (IVA) questions before they become emotionally distressed.

Una Farrell, spokeswoman for the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS), said there is a need for advice to be available to people who are suffering mental health issues because they are too far in the red.

"A lot of our clients are in emotional distress when they come to us and that often goes hand in hand with debt problems," she noted.

Ms Farrell stated that her organisation has always had Brits coming to it who are in a state of emotional unrest and now is the time to do something about it.

Those who feel they may be sliding towards a point where they can no longer manage their finances may ask IVA questions in a bid to resolve their monetary troubles.

According to MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, a third of individuals believe they will always be in the red.
