Debt management plans may reduce job worries

Debt management plans may reduce job worries

People across Sedgemoor have visited their local Citizens Advice Bureau with debts totalling £5.2 million, it has been reported.

Almost four million people in the area sought help during the last financial year, the Bridgwater Mercury stated, while many may have been pointed in the direction of a debt management plan.

Manager of the bureau Joan Saddington told the newspaper that some companies have completely closed down.

Enquiries about employment rose during the period, with 29 per cent of them related to dismissal or redundancy.

"At one stage it felt like every other client was coming to us about employment issues - mostly about redundancies," she told the publication.

Britons who are concerned about their job security may find that clearing financial commitments now through a debt management plan could leave them in a more secure position.

Furthermore, those who are worried about legal action from creditors - on top of their job concerns - may find that any further action and threatening letters are stopped once a debt management plan is in place.

The Citizens Advice Bureau recently asserted that many consumers are being threatened with charging orders, which turn unsecured debts into secured debts.
