Consumers with mounting fuel bills may wish to consider a debt management plan as a way of possibly achieving debt-free status.
The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) announced yesterday (October 21st) that it has seen a 46 per cent increase in clients with fuel debts between April and September.
Worried consumers contacting the bureau about what they owe their fuel supplier is not uncommon, with the number of enquires rising by 82 per cent in the last three years.
David Harker, chief executive of the CAB, said: "We are already seeing large increases in the number of people in fuel debt. With prices remaining at historically high levels it is essential that people get all the help that is available."
Consumers with fuel debts may want to learn more about a debt management plan.
A debt management plan tackles debt by seeking to reduce interest rates and implement an affordable repayment structure - something that could help homeowners gradually pay what they owe.
