Debt advice demand ‘remains high’

Debt advice demand 'remains high'

Thursday 10th of February 2011

The demand for debt advice among people in Britain is still high, it has been claimed - which could mean an increasing number of adults start to consider asking individual voluntary arrangement questions.

Joanna Parsley, associate director of Credit Action, noted many financial concerns persist among Britons in the current climate, including increasing fuel costs, rising food prices and job security.

The industry figure said it is not surprising that individuals are looking to cut back on their expenditure at present, adding consumers should endeavour to stick to a budget and keep on top of their income.

She explained: "We know that the demand for debt advice is still high. Many people are feeling the strain of paying higher bills and other expenses - like transport costs."

Recent research from moneysuprmarket.com showed more than eight million Brits skipped paying monthly bills last year - with credit card payments being missed most often.
