Bill problems may be helped by a debt management plan

Monday 5th of July 2010

Debt management plans could help those who are racking up huge debts on mobile phones and through other means.

Ceri Stanaway of consumer campaign group Which? has highlighted the problems high roaming charges can cause, with many people facing expensive bills because they are not aware of the cost of using their handsets abroad.

A cap has now been introduced by the European Commission, but that is unlikely to help those who are already facing large debts.

"There have been cases in the past of people unwittingly running up bills of literally thousands of pounds using the internet on their mobile overseas," said Ms Stanaway.

And when these are added to credit cards and other loans, consumers may be facing a mountain of debt that seems impossible to climb.

However, a debt management plan could help you structure your payments in a way that makes it easier to reduce what you owe.
